Software engineering study program at the Polytechnic Faculty

On 26.12.2017 In 2008, at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Zenica, a work-consultative meeting was held between representatives of the University, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports ZDK and the ZEPS Trade Fair with the leading people of the IT industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Armin Talić, director of the BIT Alliance, an association that brings together about 30 of the largest IT companies in BiH, and which currently lacks 6,000 programmers that companies from that association could immediately employ, expressed his support for the idea created at the Polytechnic Faculty, i.e. launch of the Software Engineering study program.
The meeting was also attended by Eddie Čustović, professor of La Trobe University from Melbourne (Australia), founder of the "Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation", which provides support to Bosnia and Herzegovina. diaspora for education of science and engineering students in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Professor Čustović promised the support of the IEEE (Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers), which has more than 450,000 members from over 160 countries, and which brings together the most successful professors of the world's universities, engineers and computer scientists who work in companies such as Google, Amazon, Siemens, Tesla Motors. etc.
Vedad Šestić, director of ZEPS, announced the holding of the ICT industry fair in May of next year, where, in addition to IT companies, the potential for training IT personnel in Zenica, ZDK and BiH will be presented, so that the economy of this canton will finally begin to develop in directions that are promising and that pollute the environment less.
It is expected that further implementation of the procedure for the adoption of the elaboration for the Software Engineering study, so that already in the next academic year, the first students could enroll in this new, extremely attractive department of the Polytechnic Faculty.
