Course syllabus

Spatial planning for civil engineers (1 ECTS): Types of urban spaces, mixed urban/industrial spaces, urban greenery. Principles of design and construction (2 ECTS): risk assessment, design of sustainable and resilient buildings and open spaces, green building practices and guidelines, new materials, energy efficiency. Urban mobility (2 ECTS): Designing sustainable and green urban mobility with special care for people with disabilities

Objective of the course
  • Understand healthy urban planning through methods, strategies and case studies that highlight successful elements for equity in urban health
  • Ability to DESIGN and BUILD sustainable and resilient buildings and open spaces
  • Ability to effectively ORGANIZE mixed urban/industrial use of space
  • Ability to design sustainable and green urban MOBILITY with special care for people with disabilities
Competencies (Learning Outcomes)

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • They design and manage the construction of sustainable and resilient buildings and open spaces
  • They participate in the development of spatial and urban plans that take into account the impact on the environment and on people's health
  • They know the methods of sustainable and green urban mobility and take them into account when planning, designing, building and using them.
