The Polytechnic Faculty is an organizational unit of the University of Zenica. It was founded by the decision of the Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton on July 27, 2011. year, based on the Elaboration on the Justification of the Establishment of the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Zenica, which was adopted by the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton in June 2011.

Three study programs are currently represented at the Polytechnic Faculty, namely: Production Business, Civil Engineering and Software Engineering, with two study cycles, and a joint doctoral study of technical sciences together with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Technology.

The Faculty enrolled its first students in the 2011/2012 academic year for the Civil Engineering study program. The Production Business study program was launched in 2006 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and from the 2011/2012 academic year, it was transferred to the Polytechnic Faculty. From the 2018/2019 academic year, there is also a Software Engineering study program at the Polytechnic Faculty. Graduates of four-year technical high schools and gymnasiums who pass the entrance exam in mathematics are admitted to the Polytechnic Faculty.

The vision of the University of Zenica is to become a modern and respected higher education institution, included in the common academic space of Europe and the world.

Vision of the Polytechnic Faculty as an organizational unit of the University of Zenica is to be one of the main bearers of the transformation of Zenica, ZDK and Bosnia and Herzegovina from a resource exploitation society to a knowledge society.

The mission The University of Zenica is set quite broadly and should be considered to be improved and adapted to the changed social circumstances in the coming period. It currently reads:

Using the experiences of the sixty-year tradition of higher education in Zenica, the integrated University of Zenica through internationally recognized study programs of the first, second and third cycles continuously develops education and scientific research work, creates young people who, with their top competences, will be equally involved in the Bosnian, European and global space. Inspiring higher education and research capacities enable the academic staff and students of the University of Zenica to become recognizable for their comprehensive knowledge, scientific and professional work, critical and intercultural thinking, high ethical values, and become leaders of the socio-economic and technological development of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina. All results of teaching-scientific, scientific-research and professional work at the University of Zenica must fit into the national and international quality criteria of educational and scientific activities and results in accordance with the standards of quality culture.

The mission of the Polytechnic Faculty is based on three basic components of higher education: teaching-scientific (educational) work, scientific-research work and community service. The Polytechnic Faculty trains personnel who are the basis for changes in society, for economic transformation and for improving the quality of life in the social community. By strengthening the research component, cooperation with the economy and the active involvement of students in scientific research work, we create solid foundations for the sustainable development of the social community.
